Introduction

Licensing for Door Supervisors came into effect across England and Wales on 11 April 2005 and the Security Guards 20 March 2006. It is now illegal to work as a Door Supervisor and Security Guard without a Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence.

To achieve the SIA qualification for Security Guarding and Door Supervisor you will need to attend training courses and take and pass exams that are at NVQ 2 standard. The course may be delivered over 4 days or during weekends and/or evening sessions.
